Henry Sun
Co-Founder / Chief Executive Officer

M.Econ, B.Eng

Henry has over 25 years’ experience in strategic planning, stakeholder management, debt and equity advisory. Prior to establishing Providence Asset Group, Henry held executive roles at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) where he was Director in Institutional Banking and Markets. He led and originated CBA’s global market risk opportunities for institutional and corporate clients. Prior to CBA Henry held senior positions at China Construction Bank, China Investment Bank (now known as China Development Bank) and Cinda Asset Management Company.

Alan Yu
Co-Founder / Chief Executive Officer

M.Fin, B.Acc

Alan is a qualified CPA with 15+ years’ experience in corporate finance, banking and investment. Alan has delivered complex transactions across broad industry segments, with specialist investment expertise in technology, innovation and renewable energy assets.  He has proven experience assisting companies’ growth strategies through capital raising, trade acquisitions and pre-IPO processes.  Alan holds a Masters in Finance and Bachelor of Accounting from Macquarie University. He is also the Director of Industry Relations for the Hydrogen Energy Research Centre (HERC).

Hamish Wall
Head of Operations


Hamish brings 20 years’ experience in renewable energy project development, infrastructure and start-up ventures. Prior to joining Providence Asset Group, Hamish spent seven years at Lendlease most recently as General Manager – Energy and Technology. Hamish also founded NextGen Solutions and development company Solmessis, where as CEO he delivered the first large-scale solar project in QLD. Hamish is a member of the Institute of Company Directors and Founder of the Renewable Energy Cup Yacht Race NFP event for environmental charities.   

Natalie Brooke
Head of Investor Relations

B.Bus, B.Comms

Natalie is responsible for investor relations and sustainability at Providence Asset Group and brings over 16 years’ experience in institutional funds management. Natalie has lead teams in corporate and client communications, product marketing, digital platforms, thought leadership and media relations. Prior to joining Providence Asset Group, Natalie was the General Manager of Marketing and Communications for QIC (Queensland Investment Corporation). Prior to that Natalie was the marketing and communications head for FTSE Group (now FTSE Russell) in Australia, and held various communications roles at M&G Real Estate in London. Natalie holds a CFA UK Level 4 Certificate in Investment Management (IMC).

Stephen Craen
Head of Debt Capital Markets

BA Hons Physics

Stephen has over 25 years’ experience in energy finance. Prior to joining Providence Asset Group, Stephen was co-Head of Societe Generale’s Energy Team for Europe, Africa and the Middle East where he advised clients on raising over USD30 billion in multi-sourced project finance debt. In Sydney, Stephen was a joint-leader in developing Societe Generale’s hydrogen strategy. Prior to banking, Stephen worked as a petroleum engineer for Shell. Stephen holds a BA Hons in Physics from Oxford.

Trevor Armstrong
Non-Executive Director

Trevor joined the Board of Providence Investment Management Pty Ltd in May 2021.  He has over 30 years’ experience in the energy and infrastructure sectors and has previously held various senior executive roles at Ausgrid including Interim CEO for the long-term lease of the business.  Trevor’s experience includes leadership of large and complex engineering operations, major project delivery, implementation of asset management and regulatory strategies, management of industrial relations and safety.

He is an advisory member of the UNSW Dean’s Engineering Board and Chairman of CIGRE Australia Pty Ltd. He was the Energy Networks Australia representative on the Australian Energy Market Commission Reliability Panel, and a member of the International Utilities Working Group of mega cities for over 10 years. Trevor holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Elect) from the University of Technology Sydney and a Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD Fontainebleau and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia.

Simon Corbell
Non-Executive Director

Simon joined the Providence Investment Management Pty Ltd in May 2021. Simon has more than two decades of senior experience in public policy leadership, governance, and program implementation. He held the role of Victorian Renewable Energy Advocate between 2016-2018 and from 2008-2016 was the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for the Environment, Climate Change and Energy of the Australian Capital Territory.

Simon is the Board Chair and CEO of the Clean Energy Investor Group, representing 17 institutional investors and developers in the Australian electricity market. He also advises the clean energy advisory and accelerator business Energy Estate.   He is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra, a patron of the Smart Energy Council and a non-executive director of the Climate Council. He is also an advisory Board Member – Battery Storage and grid Integration Program of the Australian National University. In 2019, The Clean Energy Council awarded Simon with an Outstanding Contribution to Industry by an Individual. Simon holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of Canberra.

Ted Surette
Non-Executive Director

Ted joined the Board of Providence Investment Management Pty Ltd in July 2021. Ted brings 33 years of experience with KPMG’s Australian, Canadian and Luxembourg practices in governance, managerial and client leadership roles. He was formerly a senior consulting partner and the Global Sector Head – Power & Utilities for KPMG from 2018 to 2021 with responsibility for the firm’s services to clients in energy transition. Prior to that, Ted was the National Industry Leader – Energy Natural Resources for KPMG Australia from 2015 to 2019 with responsibility for all services across the Power & Utilities, Mining and Oil & Gas sub-sectors, and Asia Pacific co-lead for Energy & Natural Resources from 2016 to 2021.

He is a board advisory member of the Hydrogen Energy Research Centre and holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Quebec Outaouais. Ted is a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Canada.
